LEADERSHIP Additional Nuggets from February Blog
We encounter leaders in many aspects of our lives and have the opportunity to lead both inside and outside of work. Below are accumulated nuggets over my 47-year Management career reflecting on Leading volunteers and a Leader for multiple companies. Hopefully these will resonate with you. 2024 retirement approaches quickly.
LEADERS:

Have excellent work habits.

Understand their value.

Provide ongoing communication/feedback to volunteers.

Do not dominate volunteers and or make it about yourself.

Say thank you continuously.

Speak life changing words.

Embrace where they are at and excel in what they do.

Remember who is really in control.

Know each teammate should have measurable objectives. Objectives should be realistic.

Establish development plans for their teammates.
-
Remember your future is not determined by your critics.

Have a daily plan on what they must accomplish.

Make the difficult decision. Don’t worry about popularity.

Know how to exceed profit objectives.
-
Dedicate the time to accomplish the mission.
-
Make it better today than yesterday.

Stay passionate about life.

Are great listeners.
-
Keep growing to become a better you.
-
See the value of providing executive summaries to their boss.
-
Find ways to replace negative habits through establishing new positive habits.
-
Know how to celebrate other people’s victories.
-
Know how to implement through others.
-
Know how to appreciate teammates.
-
Come prepared to meetings, take notes, establish dates for defined deliverables.
-
Recognize there is no finish line.
-
Know its not always about being right.
-
Don’t make excuses for inadequacies. Understand accountability.

Find something positive in everything.
