Clean Building Performance Standards

BEPS and CBPS are two important laws that specific HOA's will need to comply with by 2027. Discussion topics will include:

  • How to determine if you need to comply with these laws, and 
  • How to comply with these laws.

Join Timon Bruulsema, Associate Engineer with RDH and Samantha Buerman, CMCA, AMS, PCAM, for a dive into these laws.

This course is approved by Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB) to fulfill continuing education requirements for the CMCA® certification.

Timon Bruulsema | PE (CA)

Timon is an Associate Engineer in RDH specializing in energy and emissions performance of existing buildings. Timon’s expertise in energy analysis, sustainable design, and building science forms the foundation of his understanding of building performance. With a focus on integrated, whole-building systems, he excels at conducting energy modeling simulations, performing energy and condition assessments, and executing detailed analyses of existing buildings. Timon is actively involved in Clean Building Performance Standard (CBPS) projects in Washington as well as BPS projects in California. Timon also supports teams providing BPS services in Oregon, Denver, and Boston.

She currently oversees a mixed-use and residential portfolio and leads the charge for the educational events and opportunities for CWD Group. Samantha has obtained the Qualified Energy Manager certificate through the Smart Building Center and has participated in the City of Seattle's Navigator Cohort for Multi-Family Communities. Samantha has been engaged with Seattle Energy Benchmarking from the beginning and has excellent knowledge and resources to share with managers on how they can inform and prepare their communities for these state and local Energy Programs.
