Legislative Update

Please join us for a wrap-up of the 2025 Legislative Session, which concluded in April. Learn about the WUCIOA trailer bill and what you and your boards need to know to stay compliant. There are several provisions of WUCIOA that will take effect starting January 1, 2026. Discover other legislation that affects community associations. Learn how to get involved and participate in the legislative process.

This course is approved by Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB) to fulfill continuing education requirements for the CMCA® certification.

With a background in education and writing, Hilary is constantly looking for ways to improve communication with residents to increase their awareness of the services and opportunities provided by their Association and enhance participation across the community. As chair of the Legislative Action Committee, Hilary is passionate about making all community associations the best places to live in Washington State.

Valerie Farris Oman, Esq. CCAL is a partner at Condominium Law Group, PLLC, which exclusively serves condominium and homeowners association clients with all of their legal needs. In 2024, Valerie was admitted to the College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL), and is one of only 5 attorneys in Washington State having earned that distinction.

She is passionate about community association education and advocacy and collaborating with other industry professionals. Theresa served on the Washington Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act (WUCIOA) Drafting Committee for eight years, was the Co-Chair of the CAI Washington State Legislative Action Committee (LAC) when WUCIOA was enacted and is now the chair of the WUCIOA attorney advisory committee to the LAC. Theresa enjoys sharing her community association knowledge and experience so much that she frequently volunteers to present educational seminars for attorneys, association managers, and board members at the state and national level.
