Working with a Management Company: Defining Roles and Expectations

A successful community begins with a strong partnership between the board of directors and its management company. This session will help association board members better understand their governance responsibilities, establish clear expectations, and build productive working relationships with their community manager. Join us to learn:

  • The roles of the board and management,
  • Common pitfalls to avoid,
  • Best practices for communication and decision-making, and
  • How to work together throughout the year to keep your association operating efficiently.

Whether your community is self-managed, considering professional management, or looking to strengthen an existing partnership, you'll leave with practical strategies to help your board lead with confidence.

Scott began his career over 30 years ago.. He has served in roles from Maintenance, Management, Portfolio Management, and Directorship.  Scott's passion is to educate others and empower others to be successful.  Through that passion, he continues to lead for educational opportunities in the Chapter and within VIS Group.  The greatest asset we can lean into is our people.  His belief that we must get those coming behind us ready is his driving force.  He could not do any of what he does without the support of his family including his wife and three incredible children.  Each day, he knows his children look at him as an example of what they can and should be.
