Certified Business Partner

WSCAI Certified Business Program

The WSCAI Business Partner Committee has developed the Certified Business Partner (CBP) Distinction to recognize members who go above and beyond in understanding the community association industry and actively participating in WSCAI. This distinction rewards and encourages Business Partners who demonstrate professionalism, industry knowledge, and meaningful engagement with the local chapter. Recipients will receive recognition through credentials, ribbons, directory enhancements, and special outreach opportunities.

Initial Application: $350 

Renewal Application (required every 3 years): $200 

 

Prerequisites / Requirements 

Eligibility Requirements 

Applicants must meet all the following: 

  • Be in satisfactory legal, ethical, and financial standing within the community association industry and WSCAI 

  • Review and maintain ongoing compliance with the Business Partner Code of Ethics 

  • Complete the Business Partner Success Seminar (may have been completed within the three (3) years prior to applying) 

  • Have one year of industry experience (Association Manager or Business Partner experience qualifies) 

  • Provide three (3) references from community association management professionals and/or association board members 

 

Initial Distinction Requirements 

  • A total of 60 points is required 

  • Points may be earned from any combination of activities listed below, provided minimum category requirements are met 

  • All points must be earned within the three (3) years immediately preceding the application 

 

Distinction Renewal Requirements 

  • Renewal is required every three (3) years 

  • A total of 30 points is required for renewal 

  • Points may be earned from any combination of activities listed below, provided category minimums are met 

  • Points must be earned within: 

    • the three (3) years prior to the original distinction application, or 

    • the three (3) years following the receipt or renewal of the distinction 

  • A renewal application must be submitted every three (3) years and must include documentation of qualifying activities

I. WSCAI and Industry-Related Organization Service 

(Minimum one year of service required)  

A. Industry Knowledge 

  • Completion of the Business Partner Success Seminar 
    (Must be completed within three (3) years prior to submitting the application.) 

B. WSCAI Chapter Demonstration of Knowledge 

Minimum required: 10 points 
Maximum allowed: 35 points 

  • Presenter at Chapter Programs15 points each 

  • *Authorship in WSCAI Journal or other industry-related publications: 

    • 500 words – 10 points each 

    • 1,000 words – 15 points each 

    • 1,500 words – 20 points each  

C. WSCAI Chapter Leadership 

(Minimum one year of service required) 

  • Board President – 20 points per year 

  • Board Member – 15 points per year 

  • Committee Chair – 10 points per year 

  • Committee / Task Force Member – 5 points per year 

  • Strategic Planning Committee Member – 5 points per year

D. WSCAI Chapter Participation 

Minimum required: 20 points 

  • Attendance at CA Day or Annual Conference – 10 points each 

  • Attendance at other WSCAI Chapter events – 5 points each (Maximum of 4) 

  • Development of a WSCAI workshop, course, or seminar – 20 points 

  • Attendance at related organization seminars: 

    • 3–5 hours – 5 points each 

    • 6+ hours – 10 points each

  • Badge/special designation in the WSCAI Business Partner Directory 

  • Highlighted vendor email blast to all members 

  • Recognition slide at the annual conference and/or gala 

  • Ribbons for event name badges 

  • Recognition at Annual Recognition Luncheon in December each year

Administration 

  • Completed applications must be submitted to WSCAI Staff 

  • WSCAI Staff will forward applications to the Business Partner Committee CBP subcommittee for review 

  • After verifying the application and documentation, the Business Partner Committee will provide one of the following recommendations to the WSCAI Board of Directors: 

    • Approval 

    • Conditional Approval 

    • Denial / Resubmission 

  • The WSCAI Board of Directors is responsible for final approval or denial 

  • WSCAI Staff will notify the applicant of the final status and provide formal written response
